Steve and I have never been too good at leading a conventional life - there are just too many opportunities out there. Still we did quite well for thirty or so years until we decided that if we were going to do something different with our lives we’d best get on with it while we were still physically able. So, put simply, we sold the family home and most of our possessions to take up the nomadic life of full-time, professional house-sitters.
And while we still talk about travelling overseas we haven’t, as yet, been suitably motivated to leave Australia - there’s still too much left to be seen here. Amazingly too, we’ve very rarely found ourselves without a sit, despite the fact that when we started out we had a wide selection of contingency plans in case we ended up without a roof our heads. In fact, these days we seem to be turning down more sits than we’re free to accept!
Which maybe why we're regularly asked for more information about house-sitting - how it works, how to get started, the advantages and challenges, so on and so forth. Although, I have to admit, the primary question we get asked is still, ‘What on earth made you decide to sell your car and buy two electric bikes to get around on?’ But like I said, we’ve never been good at being conventional…
